Dehing Pataki Wildlife Sanctuary, A Bird haven

Dehing Pataki Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for birders who wish to explore the exquisite varieties of birds in the northeastern region. Its semi-evergreen and evergreen grasslands inhabit 263 species of birds, some of which have been marked threatened.

Some of these species are the White-winged Duck, Slender-billed Vulture, Spotted Eagle, Marsh Blabber, Nuthatch, Tawny-breasted Wren Blabber, Broad-billed Warbler, Yellow-vented Warbler, Painted Stork, Hill Myna, Osprey, Grey Peacock Pheasant, Black Baza, Besra and Oriental Darter.

Flora and Fauna

Apart from avian fauna, the park is an ensemble of non-human primates and predatory species of animals and flowers. As of now, there have been 47 mammal species, 30 butterfly species and 47 reptile species recorded, and counting. Apart from the gigantic one-horned rhinoceros, other animals include Binturong, Sambar, Sun Bear, Porcupines, Clouded Leopard, Leopard Cat, Indian Leopard, Himalayan Squirrel, and Chinese Black Bear.

An abundance of wild banana, orchids, epiphytes, ferns, arums, and climbers are spread all across the humid grassland, sustaining wildlife in the zone.
